NOTE:  3/20/2012 @ 11:00pm--We are no longer accepting applications on Colleen.  We have received a number of applications and are currently processing them each carefully.  We will remove this message should she still be available after these applications are processed.

I would like to introduce myself........my name is Colleen but my foster mom calls me Colli for short and because I seem to respond better.  I just got out of the doggie hospital from having my spay surgery so I am feeling a bit sore today. The vet says I'm a very healthy puppy of about 6 mons. old and I weigh about 9 lbs.  Since I just arrived at my new foster home, my foster mom is just learning about me.  I seem to be fairly calm for a puppy, but this is only my first day here so my foster mom says it usually takes a couple of weeks before she will see my true colors.

I am doing well with my potty manners for a puppy but am still having an occasional accident.  Since I'm in a new foster home, it will take me a few days to figure out the system here and then I'm sure I will do much better with my potty manners.  My foster mom says I am a good listner because I respond quickly to her voice so I should be very easy to train to commands.  I am being crate trained so I can sleep all night in my crate and don't mind being in it while my foster family has to be away.

My foster mom will continue to update you as she gets to know me better but so far she says I'm doing very well.  My social manners are very good for a puppy and the furkids here at my foster home seem to understand that I'm a puppy and are being very patient with me.  If I do something they don't like, the let me know and I stop.  My foster mom tells me I'm a good puppy for listening to the other furkids here.

If you are looking for a youngster to help train and to give lots of love, please submit an adoption application for me and the nice people at Ohio Fuzzy Pawz will be in touch with you.  If you have any questions, please contact my foster mom at ljpfile05@frontier.com as she will be happy to let you know more about me.

Puppy kisses...........Colleen

3/18/12 UPDATE: Today I spent some time at the Mutt Mingle as the Franklin County Animal Shelter where I met a lot of very friendly people.  I did very well with all the children who handled me and seemed unfazed by all the dogs (big and small) and people around me.  Later I did some dog training and my foster mom said I did a great job so she thinks I'm very smart.  After more observation of my behavior, I think it will be necessary for my new family to have a fenced yard so that I will be safe.  I love to run and play and right now I want to charge out the door.  That would not be safe for me if my yard was not fenced, but my foster mom is working with me to remind me to wait until she has control of me before I am allowed to exit the back door.

Please continue to check back for more updates:-))

More about Colleen

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

PLEASE NOTE:   If you are viewing this biography on a website other than the Ohio Fuzzy Pawz website like Petfinder, Adopt-a-Pet, or another search engine (the OFP website is www.ohiofuzzypawz.com), not all information transfers to partner websites in some instances.  If you go to the  individual webpage of our dogs , you will be able to get more information each dog.

Visual breed identification in dogs can be unreliable so, in many cases, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix.  We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

Our Adoption Process

The adoption process has several steps involved. Please review prior to submitting an application. Our adoption process is detailed here:  http://www.ohiofuzzypawz.com/info/adoption

Our volunteers work very diligently to process each application and we try to ensure that we are making the best match possible for each dog.  We do not schedule meetings with dogs until an application has been approved.  It can take up to a few weeks to process an application or as little time as a few days, from the time you submit an application, please be prepared to adopt as we cannot hold dogs.

Special Requirements

Some dogs may have special requirements (for example, medications, a fence) -- if you apply for a dog, please be sure to read over the biography completely to see if there are any special needs and if you're home would be suitable.  If we indicate on the dog's biography that a fence is required, this means your home must have a physical fence.  Other dogs may require a "strong vet reference" which indicates that we are looking for a home that has a documented history of veterinary care with previous pets.

The first step in our process is to submit an online adoption application at www.ohiofuzzypawz.com/forms.  The application MUST include the personal references and veterinary, grooming, and landlord references (if applicable) and their respective contact information.  If you do not include the references and the contact information, your application will be delayed as it CANNOT be processed.  Once the references have been successfully completed, a home visit is then scheduled when a rescue representative can meet all members of the family or residents of the home.  No application is approved prior to the home visit being done.   At that point, the Directors will discuss any and all applications on a foster dog and make a selection--in many cases, there are multiple applications for each dog, so please be understanding that our only priority is the successful placement of each of our foster dogs.

Out of State Adoptions

We do adopt out of state to outstanding applicants, however, our process requires a home visit, so out of state adoptions can take longer.  We do not ship our dogs, adopters should be prepared to pick up the dog in Central Ohio.
