Lhasa Apso (long coat) : : Male (neutered) : : Young : : Small
Hi! I'm Caesar! I'm a beautiful 1 yr old, 14.5 lb Lhasa Apso boy who is ALL puppy! My foster mommy likes to say I've "seized her heart"! I was originally rescued from a kill shelter, and was even adopted by a nice family as an only dog, but they didn't have the time or breed experience necessary to train me. So like a typical Lhasa, I felt it was only right that I step up and be Alpha, "guarding" my favorite person and nipping at strangers in MY house. So after only 3 months, the family gave me back to my foster mom...I was adopted out again to be a playmate to a dog who was smaller than me, but in my excitement to play and be Alpha, I scared the smaller dog; so it was decided that my new home was not the best fit for all. I have done beautifully with pottytraining. When I'm outside, I love to be a little boy and mark everywhere, BUT once I come back inside, I know the house is just not the place to do that. I also love exploring my fenced-in backyard, but I love leash walks just as much!! At least once a day, when I get really excited, I get the "zoomies" and race around so joyfully; it makes my foster mom laugh and laugh! I love to play with toys, and I do a pretty good job of fetching the ball when my foster mom throws it. Though I really love to play with other small dogs, my exuberance and tendency to dominate can be quite overwhelming for them at times. So being an only dog or living with a slightly larger dog will be a requirement for my furever home. I am a very smart boy; I already know "Sit, Come, Stay, Up" in addition to several other words. I love to sit nicely if I think I'm going to get a treat! My foster mommy is working on even more training with me...she's says that's what ALL little boys need! I am also comfortable going into my crate when it's bedtime. But I really enjoy when my foster mom invites me up onto the big bed to nap with her! I have been neutered, microchipped, and am up-to-date on all my vaccines. I am also on monthly flea and heartworm prevention. I will need my furever family to be my strong pack leader. One who will be Alpha and who won't hesitate to give me loving guidance and discipline when I need it. For this reason, a home with Lhasa experience will be preferred! **My foster mommy says she will be very selective in choosing my future furever home...I don't want to be bounced around anymore! 1-02-12: Caesar has adjusted well to his new foster home, although in typical Lhasa fashion, he did try to establish himself as "alpha". Since this was unacceptable to the current residents, in typical Lhasa fashion, Caesar learned quickly that he wasn't going to be "alpha" and has accepted his place with a grin and a happy flounce on the floor with a toy to chew on. Caesar is highly intelligent and loves to please, making training him easy, as long as it is kept consistent. Along with verbal commands, he is learning hand signals and is picking up some of the foreign language words that his foster-family pets "speak". Structure and training are a MUST with this boy though; the same intelligence that allows him to learn well would allow him to pick up bad habits quickly too. Caesar does okay with adult cats that get along with dogs, but small cats or kittens are not recommended. His young enthusiasm translates into "rough and tumble", which the foster cats love but probably wouldn't be appreciated by most! If you have ANY questions about Caesar, please email his foster mom, Lauren.Churchey@gmail.com. Caesar is being fostered in Central Ohio and his adoption donation is $300. If you are viewing this biography on a website other than the Ohio Fuzzy Pawz website like Petfinder, Adopt-a-Pet, or another search engine (the OFP website is www.ohiofuzzypawz.com), not all information transfers to partner websites in some instances. If you go to the

, you will be able to get more information each dog.
Visual breed identification in dogs can be unreliable so, in many cases, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
The adoption process has several steps involved.
Please review prior to submitting an application.
Our adoption process is detailed here:
http://www.ohiofuzzypawz.com/info/adoption
Our volunteers work very diligently to process each application and we try to ensure that we are making the best match possible for each dog. We do not schedule meetings with dogs until an application has been approved. It can take up to a few weeks to process an application or as little time as a few days, from the time you submit an application, please be prepared to adopt as we cannot hold dogs.
Some dogs may have special requirements (for example, medications, a fence) -- if you apply for a dog, please be sure to read over the biography completely to see if there are any special needs and if you're home would be suitable. If we indicate on the dog's biography that a fence is required, this means your home must have a physical fence. Other dogs may require a "strong vet reference" which indicates that we are looking for a home that has a documented history of veterinary care with previous pets.
The first step in our process is to submit an online adoption application at www.ohiofuzzypawz.com/forms. The application MUST include the personal references and veterinary, grooming, and landlord references (if applicable) and their respective contact information. If you do not include the references and the contact information, your application will be delayed as it CANNOT be processed. Once the references have been successfully completed, a home visit is then scheduled when a rescue representative can meet all members of the family or residents of the home.
No application is approved prior to the home visit being done.
At that point, the Directors will discuss any and all applications on a foster dog and make a selection--in many cases, there are multiple applications for each dog, so please be understanding that our only priority is the successful placement of each of our foster dogs.
We do adopt out of state to outstanding applicants, however, our process requires a home visit, so out of state adoptions can take longer.
We do not ship our dogs, adopters should be prepared to pick up the dog in Central Ohio.
