This sweet puppy would love to shoot an arrow your way, for Valentines Day.
Cupid is an adorable 7-8 month old Shih Tzu who was rescued from a commercial breeder in Missouri. He was removed (not purchased) from that facility and was immediately placed into rescue care. It is truly amazing how quickly these puppies respond to love and the arms that hold them so safely in rescue care. He is quite the lover and actively seeks attention from people. Cupid is a puppy, and is still working on potty training, and does well holding it when he is in a crate, and with some continued training will be housebroken in no time. He is so happy that he no longer has to potty where he sleeps, eats and drinks. Since Cupid spent 8 months continuously, in a crate, it would be beneficial to his health, well being and overall growth, if he was not confined to a crate more than 4-6 hours at a stretch. This will allow Cupid to go outside and do his business to reinforce his potty training. He also needs this opportunity to develop his muscles and gain strength. Cupid has never been on a harness or leash to go for walks, but practicing this while in the house, will prepare him for the great outdoors. When this little fellow came into Ohio Fuzzy Pawz Rescue, all he could do was crawl, because he had never been outside of a wire crate. Cupid had spent his entire life confined in wire and the only feeling he knew was cold, uncomfortable wire on his feet. He had no idea he could walk and run without it hurting his feet .Cupid learned quickly that he could begin to carefully crawl on his belly, and then he went directly from crawling to running. Now, there is a whole world for Cupid to watch, sniff, and explore. It will be a photo opportunity for his new family to see him the very first time that he is able to walk and roll on green grass. It will be even better, when he sees and chase his first butterfly in the spring. Cupid is learning to play with his very first toys. He even gets tasty chewies to help him relax and enjoy life. Cupids foster home has a cat, and he and the cat are friends, and why not, this is his first experience with a cat. He also has other dogs in his foster home and he loves being with them. It will take a little time for Cupid to take in all the new sights and sounds in his world of freedom. Cupid is regaining the puppyhood that he never had, and he no longer has to sleep on chicken wire, because his foster mom has given him a nice soft, warm doggy bed, all of his own. He has been neutered, brought current on shots, tested heartworm negative and is on prevention. Cupid will require regular professional grooming and veterinarian care throughout his life. He is being fostered in Central Ohio and his adoption donation is $350. If you feel that Cupid is the right new family member for you, please fill out an application and submit it to Ohio Fuzzy Pawz Rescue. You can contact his foster mom at erinscrzyacrs@gmail.com *** PLEASE NOTE: We do adopt out of state; however, we do not ship our dogs. We do try to work with out of state adopters by assisting with transports, but in some instances, the adopters may have to come to Ohio to pick up their dog. *** PLEASE NOTE:
If you are viewing this biography on a website other than the Ohio Fuzzy Pawz website like Petfinder, Adopt-a-Pet, or another search engine (the OFP website is www.ohiofuzzypawz.com), not all information transfers to partner websites in some instances. If you go to the
individual webpage of our dogs
, you will be able to get more information each dog.
Visual breed identification in dogs can be unreliable so, in many cases, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
The adoption process has several steps involved.
Please review prior to submitting an application.
Our adoption process is detailed here:
http://www.ohiofuzzypawz.com/info/adoption
Our volunteers work very diligently to process each application and we try to ensure that we are making the best match possible for each dog. We do not schedule meetings with dogs until an application has been approved. It can take up to a few weeks to process an application or as little time as a few days, from the time you submit an application, please be prepared to adopt as we cannot hold dogs.
Some dogs may have special requirements (for example, medications, a fence) -- if you apply for a dog, please be sure to read over the biography completely to see if there are any special needs and if you're home would be suitable. If we indicate on the dog's biography that a fence is required, this means your home must have a physical fence. Other dogs may require a "strong vet reference" which indicates that we are looking for a home that has a documented history of veterinary care with previous pets.
The first step in our process is to submit an online adoption application at www.ohiofuzzypawz.com/forms. The application MUST include the personal references and veterinary, grooming, and landlord references (if applicable) and their respective contact information. If you do not include the references and the contact information, your application will be delayed as it CANNOT be processed. Once the references have been successfully completed, a home visit is then scheduled when a rescue representative can meet all members of the family or residents of the home.
No application is approved prior to the home visit being done.
At that point, the Directors will discuss any and all applications on a foster dog and make a selection--in many cases, there are multiple applications for each dog, so please be understanding that our only priority is the successful placement of each of our foster dogs.
We do adopt out of state to outstanding applicants, however, our process requires a home visit, so out of state adoptions can take longer.
We do not ship our dogs, adopters should be prepared to pick up the dog in Central Ohio.
